Mise En Scene research
Our video will use a lot of props, that will be essential to making our music video unique and fun to watch. These props will include using UV paint and glow sticks. We will be able to use these to great effect in the dark room where they will stand out, and the UV paint with a dark light will look good. The glow sticks can be joined together to form a ball, as well as the glow sticks being used as necklaces, bracelets etc.. we can also use them for making glasses and bunny ears which will be good to decorate the people in the dark room, making it a bit more fun to watch.
Research into filters and special effects.
We have thought about using special effects when it comes to the lips. Like the lips have were a key feature in the Rihanna Rude Boy video we want to enhance specific features whether it is the lips or the eye etc. To do this we would need to green screen them however we have had a few problems with this as the lips is the only thing we want to highlight. We have experimented this by cutting out a hole in a large green piece of card. We like the outcome of this technique even if it was very quick to do. We are going to look into this technique in more detail and we have come up with the idea of getting some green face paints to pain the face and neck so that when we film this the focus will only be on the lips. This video can be found on the blog, as you can see the technique has worked and we are really happy with the outcome but are willing to spend time perfecting this.
Other special effects that we've looked into include the re-wind that we are interested in using. We think that this special effect will work well 55 seconds into the song. This is where there are several beats next to each other and it is at this point where we could use the re-wind effects in time with the beat. This is also an effect that has been used in Rihanna Rude Boy but we think that this will be a very good way to involve more effects into our video as well as getting the audience interested in watching this video.
Our music video will be interesting because of the vast difference between our locations as well as the many different camera angles and effects that will be used. We feel that we don't need to include as many effects as some other music videos would because of our use of the dark room. By using this it is already a special effect in itself. As the dark room scenes with the UV paint will be very striking, the scenes that will be outside will need some special effects to make them the same quality as the dark scenes.

Research into transaction types.
By looking at a number of different music videos we have a few ideas of different types of transactions that we could use. For example our main focus will be on using lots of cuts that fit in with the beats of the song.
Other than this there are occasions throughout the song where dissolves can be used. For example, we could dissolve out from one location to another to make the change less dramatic, or we could dissolve out when close ups are used. By using the dissolve transition is give you the sense of passing time and changing location which is why this would be a good transition for our video.
Another transition that we could use in our music video is a wipe. This transition would be good especially if it was used in a shot where the model is walking across the screen. For example this would work really well if we use a shot where the model is walking straight across the shot, either from the left or the right. I think if we could edit this shot so that it also match's in with the beats of the music. For example in the Rihanna Rude Boy video, I really like the edit at the start where she is walking across the screen and she stops but is almost fast forwarded and re-winded for a minute.
There are many different transitions that we could use in our video so we will look into using some of the ones I've mentioned and see how they look in with the music and also how they fit into the video.

Rihanna Video.
What I like about this video is the use of cuts when there is a beat. This is something that we wanted to use in our own video because we think it will be a good way of combining the two very different locations without there being too much of a jump between the two.

As alot of his style can be directly translated into our video. We will use things like his style of shots and use of editing to get a similar

Ideas - Green Screening Lips
We've decided we would like to use a technique which was used in the rudeboy music video, in which rihanna greenscreens everything but her lips in order to allow for a colourful background with a closeup of lips.
We used a green cardboard sheet and cut out a hole for the lips in order to allow for use to use Chromer Keyer to get rid of everything in the vicinity.
Peer Evaluation of Blog
Currently your blog is very good, most posts are of high detail and is clearly showing your progress of creating your music video, especially your location research. To improve you need story boards of ideas you have considered, some more analysis of other students work and add to how your equipment will help you create your video :)

Scene Ideas - Bubbles (forest)
This is our location for shooting the scene where bubbles are blown. We are not quite sure if we are going to use this location at the moment, as we think there may be better places to shoot this, however its a good fall back option if needed.
These 2 pictures show either side, showing where the people blowing the bubbles would stand, and the picture below shows roughly the place where they would stand.
This final picture is the kind of shot we would do in the music video.
